Defination of Prune: to trim or cut away superflouous branches or parts to improve growth, appearance etc; to cut off, to strip off; remove,to lose Why does Jesus prune every branch that bears fruit? John 15:2: 2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. Hebrews 12:6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.\" What is this pruning process? It is the Father cutting out of our lives the things that hinder us from being more fruitful. God always wants us to reach our fullest potential. This explains why Christians who remain in Christ are often suffering Christians. This explains why some believers seem to experience so much suffering and loss. They experience the Father\'s pruning, and it hurts. The author of Hebrews speaks to this in Heb 12:5-7,11: \"My son, do not make light of the Lord\'s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, (6) because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.\" (7) Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? ... (11) No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. [More] [Less]
